It is painted in the characteristic sand color and has three rear holes, also characteristic, to place the sun protector for the nape of the neck.

It is noteworthy the difference in the top of the interior lining with respect to theEnglish pattern (Celtic cross)by an oval felt lid.
​
The manufacturer of the steel helmet was Transvaal Steel Pressing Syndicate Ltd, which did not mark the helmets. The interior trim bears the maker's mark:Jager Randand the year 1940.

The neck fabric has been added to illustrate the use of the 3 rear holes.
