Salacot model 1935 in the style of the English modelWolseley. The helmet came into use by the Italian army during the colonial expansion with the invasion of Ethiopia in 1935, and was used during the campaigns in North Africa together with the troops of theAfrican Korpsuntil the end of World War II.

The interior of the helmet is khaki, there are discussions about whether the pith helmets used during World War II had a green interior (model 31) or also khaki, with opinions for all tastes. The most plausible are those that suggest that the helmets with the khaki interior were manufactured before and during the war after those with the green interior that were manufactured before the war (1931). It could be that most of this 2nd model remained in warehouses, like the specimen in the collection.

The regimental emblem has been added to the helmet as well as the cocarda with the national colors (both original), glasses and a replica chinstrap.

The emblem of the regiment could correspond   with the 2º Reggimento di fanteria d'Africaor with el 2nd Reggimento di fanteria coloniale (Tripolitania).

It is curious to observe that on the right side (outside) it has a kind of pocket, which was used to fix the plume of feathers (black grouse) of theBersaglieri.
