After the incorporation of the new hull modelMK IIIin the British army, and already in 1945, believing that the war was going to continue, mainly in the Pacific (after the surrender of Germany), the need was seen to improve this model and allow a more versatile use of it, in the same way of the M1 USA helmet.
Keeping the same design of the pot, the fastening system inside the helmet was modified so that it could be easily released and the helmet (pot) used for transporting water and toilets, which also changed the situation of the chinstrap attachments, lowering them almost to the edge of the helmet, which also improved its stability. The new model began to be manufactured in 1944 and was called MK IV.
