m26 "wingless"

M26 "wingless" or M21

Spain

1926

Manufacturer: Trubia National Artillery Arsenal

Spanish helmet model M26 "without wing" or also known as M21. The helmet does not have any of the modifications that were made to the reconditioned helmets  al  at the end of the Civil War and especially in 1943: it does not have the frontal loop to hold the emblem from the army, and retains the original black leather interior.

This hull design was introduced alongside themodel 26 "with brim", to the contest to decide the helmet that the Spanish Army would adopt, and of which only 12,000 copies were manufactured. By order of 11/3/1930, the M26 model "with wing" was declared regulatory, with which the manufacture of the model "without wing" was abandoned. The helmets made of this model were stored until the outbreak of the Civil War.

The helmet bears the insignia of theNational Aviation, so the helmet was probably used during the Civil War by theNational Aviation, and will continue to be used in the immediate post-war period.
