WINTER WAR MEDAL

Medal established on August 2, 1940. to commemorate the Winter War against the USSR between 11/30/1939 and 3/13/194O. The bar indicates the battle in which the combatant participated, in this case theoffensive of the Karelian Isthmus(KARJALAN KANNAS) on February 1, 1940, and the swords indicate actual participation in combat.

The medal is made of blackened iron and with the inscription on the reverse:KUNNIA ISÄNMAA, which means "Honour, Fatherland".
